Oval Victorian Oil Painting, 'Francis and Eleanor Haswell' (Francis Robert Newton Haswell & Eleanor Haswell) by Robinson Elliott (1814-1894), painted in 1844, 594x494mm. Robinson Elliott was a painter from Newcastle-on-Tyne. Eleanor Haswell was then 7 years old. She married Richard Holman and lived at the Elms. Richard Holman ran the ship yard where now stands Strand Court & from which England's Rose was fitted out & launched. This Eleanor is the Eleanor after which Eleanor's Bower is named.
